Born on June 21,1965 in Suizhong County, Huludao City, Liaoning Province, a member of the Communist Party of China, the rank of major general of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, a special astronaut. He served successively as deputy director of the China Astronaut Research and Training Center, deputy general commander of the astronaut system of the manned Space Program, alternate member of the Central Committee, director of the China Manned Space Engineering Office, and the first generation of astronauts trained by China. He was the first person of China to enter space.Yang Liwei flew safely for 1,350 hours. At 9 o'clock Beijing time on October 15,2003, Yang Liwei entered space in the Shenzhou V spacecraft carried by the Long March 2 F rocket for the first time, symbolizing a big step forward in China's space industry and played a milestone role.
